Knowing how to use AI is useless if using it gets you into trouble. Most people in African workplaces are already using these tools quietly, without permission and without disclosure. This lesson fixes that.
Around 80% of professionals already use AI tools their employer has not approved, and 58% have pasted sensitive data into one. Senior people offend most. Fewer than a third of organisations have any policy at all, so most of that is not defiance — it is people guessing in a vacuum, carrying a risk they have never named.
The lesson is practical rather than moralising. Find the policy or establish that there is none, work out what disclosure is genuinely required and how to word it, and write one page for the person who actually signs off. You leave with a memo rather than a secret.
